Nourishing Neighbors Gives Hope to Women During Covid-19

The Albertsons’ Company Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors program provided critical food assistance to Live & Learn women. This assistance helps women who are working hard to regain employment during the Covid-19 pandemic and economic recession. 33% of Arizona women live in poverty. A year ago, Live & Learn was helping Anna prepare to start college and advance her career. Then, when Covid-19 hit, she lost her job and her opportunity to go to school. The economic impact of the Covid-19 began taking a toll on the Phoenix-metro community immediately. Women face serious obstacles to employment with children home due to school closures and increased scarcity of childcare facilities, obstacles that continue four months later.
