Beth is a 45-year-old single mother of four children. She was referred to Live & Learn from UMOM as she was transitioning into rapid rehousing. Beth was unemployed, and her UMOM case manager was concerned that she would cycle back into homelessness without Live & Learn. The Albertsons’ Company Foundation’s Nourishing Neighbors program provided critical food assistance to Live & Learn women. A year ago, Live & Learn was helping Anna prepare to start college and advance her career. Then, when Covid-19 hit, she lost her job and her opportunity to go to school. The economic impact of the Covid-19 began taking a toll on the Phoenix-metro community immediately. Women face serious obstacles to employment with children home due to school closures and increased scarcity of childcare facilities, obstacles that continue four months later.
