In recognition of her personal and professional accomplishments, as well as her ongoing work to make a difference in the community, Jocelyne Cruz is Live & Learn’s 2023 Distinguished Alumna.

Jocelyne is a 27 year old native to Phoenix, Arizona.

Her work in the community includes various positions in nonprofits including: Head Start teacher, home visitor, parent educator, and social services coordinator. 

Currently, she is a teacher at Friendly House, a Phoenix-area nonprofit that empowers communities through education and social services. She has great passion for shaping young minds. In addition, Jocelyne holds an ambassador position to represent her community on the Central City South WIN (Wisdom in Neighborhood) team.

Thanks to the support of Live & Learn, Jocelyn holds two degrees. She first earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education and Administration, and later continued her education to earn an Associates Degree in Administration of Justice Studies.

She was inspired by her grandmother who always modeled independence, helpfulness, and hard work. She grew up watching her give back to others through services even when she didn’t have much.
