With a simple, “I believe in you, you can do it!” Live & Learn helped me more than you would think. I remember the first time I met with Katie from Live & Learn. She asked me what I wanted to do, and I told her I wanted to go back to school.
With no hesitation, she said, “Let’s do it!” She had no doubts, she just believed in me. Sometimes, it takes one person to believe in you like that.
At that moment in my life, I was in a complicated situation. I was on my own with my young son. I was starting with nothing, with Live & Learn’s help. In 2016, I earned my Childhood Development Associate certification. I got a good job. Then, because Live & Learn encouraged me, I started college and took one class. I kept going, and Live & Learn helped me access scholarships.
In Summer 2020, I earned my Associates Degree in Child Development. This is an important step for me, my career, and for my son. The Live & Learn program staff always reminded me of the positive in my life. We tend to focus on the negative, but Live & Learn reminded me to look at the good things I am doing and encouraged me to keep doing better. I always feel accomplished and proud of myself after meeting with Stephanie [Live & Learn Program Manager]. Live & Learn helped me come so far, and I am forever grateful.
