October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This is a time for celebrating survivors, a time for remembering those who have died because of domestic violence, and a time for working towards an end to the system of oppression that leads to domestic violence.
This October 2022, Live & Learn invites you to get involved through activities that will make a difference right here in Maricopa County, where the problem of domestic violence is one of the highest in the country.
The Problem
Arizona has the 7th highest femicide rate in the United States.
At Live & Learn, about 90% of the women participating in our program have experienced domestic violence. The problem is prevalent. It is serious. It is also extremely difficult to solve.
Live & Learn helps women break free through an Economic Empowerment Program. The program provides women with ongoing, one-on-one coaching focused on safety and security, healing and healthcare, and pursuing career training and a good-wage career. With this support, women achieve financial self-sufficiency, and they build a new life free from abuse, coercion, and control.
You Can Get Involved
You can help make a difference for women and their children. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month this October, Live & Learn is offering numerous events and activities, and you are invited to get involved.
