Live & Learn hosts quarterly coffee events about an important topic affecting women experiencing poverty in Maricopa County. At the first coffee event of 2022, Live & Learn focused on the interrelated issues of housing and childcare, with two local experts weighing in, while attendees enjoyed free coffee supplied by Empower Coffee Roasters. Read more →Emma is a fiercely determined young woman. With Live & Learn’s support, she has found success at YearUp AZ, the Maricopa Community Colleges, and Bank of America. Her hard work has brought her from a life of difficulty to a place of stability, self-sufficiency, and hope. Emma and her siblings grew up in Phoenix, raised by a single mother. “Growing up, things were hard,” Emma reflects. In high school, she devoted herself to her schoolwork with great drive and determination. She studied and worked hard, and she succeeded. After graduation, Emma went to work, with her same drive and determination.
Read more →Live & Learn hosts Empower Hours the last Saturday of every month as an opportunity for women to connect with one another to build a strong internal community and inspire each other. At the end of January, women in the Live & Learn program joined the monthly Empower Hour to create a vision board for 2022. Vision boards are designed to visually set goals. Women used recycled materials, pasted on a blank canvas. Typically, these vision boards are displayed somewhere to be reminded of the goals in place for the year.
