This Thanksgiving was truly a season of giving and gratitude at Live & Learn! We hosted our first turkey drive. Generous donors provided turkey, side dishes, and desserts to women who could not afford to put a feast on their own table.
Donors were so kind and generous. They went above and beyond to make the holiday special for hardworking women and their families. There were beautiful homemade desserts. Some donors delivered directly to the homes of women who lack reliable transportation. Other women came to our office to pick up their dinners and meet their donors. One woman took the bus across town to pick up a donation that helped her provide a Thanksgiving feast to her six children.
This really touched my heart and caused me to reflect on what others are going through and how hard these women are working to make their lives better. These women were truly grateful for the help and for being able to bring joy into their families’ lives.
We plan to make the turkey drive an annual event. Next year, we will serve even more women in need. Be on the lookout this fall for information regarding the 2020 turkey drive!
